ABOUT RISING RECOVERY PLC
Therapy Built Around Connection
Attachment Focused Therapy for Adults and Couples in Michigan
Rising Recovery PLC provides online psychotherapy for adults and couples throughout Michigan. We help people make sense of the emotional and relationship patterns behind anxiety, conflict, disconnection, and self-doubt so they can respond with more choice when those patterns take over.

OUR STORY
A Family-Owned Practice With Room to Go Deeper
Rising Recovery PLC was founded in 2020 by Shawn and Elona Eaton, a husband-and-wife team who wanted therapy to feel more personal, thoughtful, and human.
After working in hospital-based care and private practice, we saw how easily treatment could become rushed, overly clinical, or focused only on managing symptoms. Coping tools can be useful, but people also need room to understand what is happening beneath the surface.
We built Rising Recovery around the belief that people need a place where they can feel understood and make sense of the emotional and relationship patterns shaping their lives.
Addiction treatment and recovery were part of Rising Recovery's early work. Today, the practice focuses on attachment focused psychotherapy for adults and couples, along with a separate substance use assessment service led by Elona.
“Therapy should not feel like a performance. It should be a place where people can slow down, be understood, and work with what matters.”
SHAWN EATON, LMSW, FOUNDER & THERAPIST
WHAT GUIDES OUR WORK
How We Show Up for You
The way therapy feels matters. These principles shape how we work from the first contact through the work itself.
Collaborative
Therapy is something we do with you, not to you. We work together to understand what feels stuck and what meaningful change would look like.
Accessible
Secure online therapy can make it easier to begin and stay consistent. Sessions can take place from a private space where you feel comfortable.
Attuned
We pay attention not only to what happened, but to how it felt, what it meant, and what became difficult to say or ask for when emotions were high.
ATTACHMENT FOCUSED THERAPY
Understanding Patterns. Creating Change.
Many struggles begin to make more sense when we understand what they are trying to manage. Anxiety may keep you preparing for what could go wrong. Shutdown may reduce overwhelm. People-pleasing may protect connection. Anger may create distance when something feels threatening.
Attachment-focused therapy helps us slow these patterns down and reach the emotions, needs, and expectations underneath them. Emotionally Focused Therapy is central to Shawn’s work, while Patrick and Josh draw from their own training, backgrounds, and areas of experience.
The goal is not to become a different person or handle everything perfectly. It is to have more choice when difficult emotions appear, stronger relationships, and a clearer sense of how to move forward.

Therapy can be clinically grounded without feeling distant, rushed, or performative.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
You don't need the perfect words, a polished story, or a clear explanation before you begin. Our role is to help you slow down, notice what is happening, and make room for the parts of your experience that are harder to reach alone.
